ISLAMABAD: Japan would continue assisting Pakistan and other nations trying to defeat terrorism and extremism in their war on terror, said Japanese Ambassador Seiji Kojima who called on Information and Broadcasting Minister Senator Nisar A. Memon here on Friday.
The ambassador also assured that Japanese government and people stood by the Pakistan government and its people in their fight against terrorism.
The assurance of assistance during the enactment of the Replenishment Support Special Measures Law by the Japanese Parliament on Friday morning that would help re-start fuel and water supply activities by the Japan Self-Defence Forces to vessel of other countries engaged in the Operation Enduring Freedom-Maritime Interdiction Operations (OEF-MIO).
The supply was terminated last month in the face of rising concerns in Japan that it should not entangle itself in the dangerous war on terrorism.
